GER-SL launched a Bicycle Distribution Program in Pallithedal, Pollonruwe to support school students facing difficulties in commuting to school due to long distances and lack of transportation. This initiative aimed to enhance access to education, reduce dropout rates, and ease the daily struggles of students from low-income families.
Many students in Kinniya walk several kilometers daily to attend school, often leading to fatigue, tardiness, and absenteeism. By providing bicycles, GER-SL is ensuring that these children can travel to school faster, safer, and with less physical strain, allowing them to focus better on their studies.
The beneficiaries were selected based on factors such as distance from school, financial hardship, and academic dedication. Through this initiative, GER-SL is not only improving educational opportunities but also fostering independence, confidence, and a brighter future for the students of Kinniya.
