Sewing Machine distribution

In February 2025, GER-SL launched a Sewing Machine Distribution program in Kinniya to support individuals, particularly women, in achieving financial independence. This initiative aimed to empower underprivileged families by providing them with sewing machines, enabling them to generate a sustainable income through tailoring and garment production.

Many women in Kinniya face economic hardships due to limited job opportunities. By equipping them with sewing machines, GER-SL is enabling them to start home-based businesses, take up tailoring projects, and contribute to their family income. This initiative is particularly beneficial for widows, single mothers, and women from low-income households who struggle to find stable employment.

The beneficiaries were carefully selected based on their financial situation, existing sewing skills, and willingness to start or expand a business. Some recipients had prior experience but lacked the resources to purchase a machine, while others were eager to learn and build a livelihood.

Through this program, GER-SL is fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment. By creating opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs, this initiative helps families achieve long-term financial stability, improving their overall quality of life and promoting women’s empowerment in the community.
